Women on the Water:
Ripples of Influence
A fundraiser for Maine Community Swimming
Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Centerboard Yacht Club 271 Front Street, South Portland, ME 04106
Our panel event brings together diverse women whose lives have been shaped by water—through sport, work, conservation, and culture. By sharing their stories, we aim to:
Illuminate the impact of water on personal and professional journeys
Inspire our community to engage deeply with water safety and conservation
Showcase the role of women in water-related fields
Raise awareness and support for Maine Community Swimming's mission of accessible, inclusive water safety education
Through these narratives, we hope to create waves, motivating our community to embrace water safety, support inclusive swimming programs, and foster a deeper appreciation for our aquatic environments. This inspiring evening will feature a panel discussion with incredible women who have made waves in their fields, including:
Pat Gallant-Charette, world record-holding marathon swimmer
Mihku Paul, a First Nations poet, visual artist, storyteller, and activist
Alicia Gaiero, co-founder of Nautisisters Oyster Farm
Sara Smith, co-program director of Casting for Recovery - Maine Chapter
Agenda for the Evening

6:00pm - 7:00pm: Panel discussion
7:00pm - 8:00pm: Desserts and raffle
